Harumatsuri is an annual 1-Day event held in the spring, serving as a light version of our annual 3-day convention in the summer. Harumatsuri is made of the Japanese words for spring (haru, 春) and festival (matsuri, 祭り) and is held with a special focus on Japanese arts and culture.
In addition to our themed elements, Harumatsuri also offers many of our traditional Anime Evolution events on a smaller scale including panels, video and AMV showings, gaming, artists alley, and vendors.
Harumatsuri will be held on Saturday March 18, 2017 at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre, Burnaby, BC from 10am to 6pm. Nikkei Centre is located on Kingsway, and is a few blocks northwest of Edmonds Station on the SkyTrain Expo Line. You can walk from Edmonds Station (approx. 10 mins, uphill) or take the bus route 106 to Metrotown Station.
- Route 106 is on the Frequent Transit Network; buses run every 10-12 mins throughout the day.
- Nikkei Centre is located adjacent to the Kingsway @ Sperling Ave bus stop.
- The bus route 106 to New Westminster Station will not take you to Nikkei Centre from Edmonds Station.
Do you have an idea for a panel, workshop, contest, or game you’d like to run at Akimatsuri? If so, we want to hear it! Once we receive your idea we will contact you with more details. Please note that due to the volume of requests, submitting this form will not necessarily guarantee that your panel will be approved. Requests will be responded to on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Artist and Vendor spaces are available. Prices are $50 per table and each table comes with 1 pass. If you require an additional pass, they come at a discounted rate of $10 for up to 2. If you are interested in having a table at Harumatsuri, please fill out our form and our Vendors Coordinator will get in touch with you:
